Generally speaking local artist that have fewer than 10k listeners on SoundCloud and Spotify tend to draw smaller crowds with limited production value. That is not the case when it comes to Atlanta’s homegrown Leah Culver. She absolutely stunned Imagine Music Festival with a hard-hitting set and her incredible voice at the main stage (Oceania).
Culver blended stunning cartoon visuals (which she calls Leah Land), resembling popular shows such as “Adventure Time” and “Rick and Morty”, with a killer light show. What really set this performance apart from other acts on day one was how she combined live instruments and vocals into her dubstep show. The Atlanta native featured a live drummer for the entire set, as well as a string quartet backed by a local children’s choir. Yeah, you can’t make this stuff up. The drummer was so in sync with Culver you would have thought the hard-hitting bass drum, tom fills, and high hats were pre-recorded. When the chorus of ‘Taken Back’ first dropped you couldn’t find a single person in the crowd that wasn’t dancing like no one was watching.
Combine these elements together and it’s no wonder she drew a massive crowd worthy of the main stage. Leah Culver has been featured on Adventure Club’s ‘Reaction’ and gained support from major artists including Steve Aoki, Big KRIT, Trinidad James, The Glitch Mob, Firebeatz, Cash Cash, Porter Robinson, 3lau, Zomboy, Excision, Knife Party, Seven Lions and Griz. If Culver is ever performing in a city near you we highly recommend you go!
